Hello, everyone!
Just a quick story of me editing my latest stories.
I didn’t have Grammarly before in life, and I only activated when I am done writing so it can tell me if I wrote a word wrongly or ate a few words, which I sometimes do, I get caught writing for extended times and do not notice that not all that I wanted to say or rather what the characters were saying made it to the doc, I go back and see what it is missing with it. But this is not about that.
The best part of editing though, is reading bits and saying: who wrote this? This is awesome! I loved when that happens. Of course, there are times when I just cannot understand what it is happening or something is too ugh, so the chopping begins, I, either remove entire paragraphs or highlight them in red and then go back a few days later to change it entirely, I don’t tend to save various copies of my stories; if it goes, it goes, no point in changing something and then ending up with two or three versions of the same story with different bits and pieces in it, that will just confuse and make the process even longer because then, I would have to decide which to publish and what has to go, and that’s too much pressure.
So when I edit, it is for real, I let go of what does not work or what does not convince me enough or I add details, things that came to me later or if I wrote a side story that explains events, and then those events have to be in the main story because it explains further what the characters are going to. It’s great, stressful, mind-blowing sometimes, but so great.
The life of being your own publishing house, you have to find the will to edit, criticise, and be willing to cut off things of your own work, I am my own worst critic, and it has worked quite well. Word of advice, keep writing, find a self-published site and get those stories out there, even if they don’t sell, mine don’t, but I enjoy writing and publishing and knowing that it is out there for the world to see.
That’s it, a quick true story for the writers out there. Don’t forget to like or share if you are in the mood, also you could follow for more, or visit my IG, Pins and Tweets, oh, and FB too.
Have a nice one and enjoy the ride.
