New Writing Prompts for October

Decided to jump into October with new writing prompts, if you were here for the past ones, then you know the short writing prompts and the longer writing prompts, but if not, they are live here on the blog.

Today, it’s a bit different, a bit of context and perhaps a title.

1. “Beneath the Surface”

Write about a character who discovers a hidden world beneath their everyday life. What secrets lie below, and how will this revelation change their existence?

2. “The Forgotten Melody”

Describe a moment when a character hears a long-forgotten song, triggering a cascade of memories. Explore the emotions, nostalgia, and unexpected consequences that arise.

3. “The Unfinished Painting”

Imagine stumbling upon an incomplete painting in an old, dusty attic. Complete the painting through your words, and let it tell a story of its own.

4. “The Last Message”

Write a letter from a character who knows they have only one day left to live. What wisdom, regrets, or hopes do they share in this farewell letter?

5. “Parallel Worlds”

Craft a story where two characters live parallel lives in separate dimensions. Describe a moment when their worlds collide, and explore the repercussions of this extraordinary meeting.
