Hello, lovelies! How are you today?
Okay, so you might know that I recently had different IG accounts closed and had to re-open because I am stubborn like that and will continue to fight IG on this until they recognise me as a human being. However, this is not about that but the fact that some so-called reviewers feel the need to come to my inbox with half-heartfelt attempts to get me to buy their services, they message with “all the warmth” of a template message and not even bother to get your name right or put your name on the message, just a generic “Hi there” and say they love what your book is about and blah blah, and say “I’d love to read it and review it” and I honestly replied to these people with “Sure, you can get the book on the link on my bio” or something like that because if you are indeed someone interested in it, you will do just that, but no, they have the nerve to reply with “Is a paid review, I do charge for my services”, eh, excuse me, did I ask for your services?
I don’t do paid reviews, that will only get you a red flag on Amazon because it’s not a real review. Also, I’m a self-published, indie, struggling author, what makes you think that I have money to spare on a paid review? I barely have money to pay rent and eat, so I’m not going to spend the rest on this and get some posts on a page that barely gets any reach. You can have all the thousand followers you want, but if those thousands are not commenting, and you only get hundreds of likes if so, then what’s the point? Do you guarantee 100% that I’m going to start selling more of my books after the review?
Sorry that I am so into this, but it just kept bugging me to receive message after message from different accounts, stating that they’d love to read my books and not actually going to an online bookstore support me for my work by buying the books and reading them and liking them, it makes my blood boil.
I know that’s a business that some people have but put some heart into it, stop being so cold about your approach. I know, I have worked in a similar business, and I always tried to give it some human touch.
I am done now. I feel much better after this, and after replying to these people with I’m not interested, and I didn’t ask for services. Call me what you want, this got it out of my chest, and sometimes you need to let it out.
How about my fellow writers out there? Do you receive many messages like this?
This is it for now, hope you enjoy your day and don’t forget to like or follow if you are not yet. 💙 🙂
Cheers!
